Field trips to leading industrial and research facilities

A group of students participated in an educational field trip to the Scientific and Technological Research Equipment Centre (STREC), Chulalongkorn University. The visit aimed to enhance the students’ understanding of advanced scientific instruments and analytical techniques used in modern research, such as thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and simultaneous thermogravimetric analysis (STA).

As part of an educational field trip, students explored a pulp and paper manufacturing facility to broaden their understanding of industrial processes. The visit highlighted key stages such as pulping, bleaching, and papermaking, along with sustainable practices and quality control measures. This experience connected classroom theory to real-world applications in the paper industry.

Students visited the Department of Materials Science, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, to observe scientific instruments used in materials research. The tour included demonstrations of key instruments, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Raman spectroscopy. The activity aimed to familiarize students with characterization techniques and their applications in real research settings.
