Admission

This master’s program is available in two study plans to accommodate applicants from diverse fields:

I. Plan A, Type A1: Non-Coursework Program (Thesis-Only Program)

  1. Applicants must be in their final year of study or must have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or other related fields in science and technology with a minimum GPAX of 3.00, and eligibility is subject to the approval of the Program Committee.
  2. Applicants must submit proof of English language proficiency with one of the following minimum scores:
    • TOEFL: 400
    • CU-TEP: 30
    • IELTS: 3.0
      However, the following conditions apply:

      2.1 CU-TEP score of 45 or above, TOEFL score of 450 or above, or IELTS score of 4.0 or above:
      No additional English coursework is required.

      2.2 CU-TEP score of 38–44, TOEFL score of 425–449, or IELTS score of 3.5–3.9:
      The student must enroll in and pass one English-related course as designated by the University Council before graduation.

      2.3 CU-TEP score of below 38, TOEFL score of below 425, or IELTS score of below 3.5:
      The student must enroll in 5500503 Preparatory English for Graduate Students and one additional English-related course as designated by the University Council, both of which must be passed before graduation.

      2.4 CU-TEP or equivalent TOEFL scores are valid for two years from the test date to the official announcement date of the examination results, as specified in the program’s official announcement.

      2.5 For applicants who do not yet have CU-TEP scores, please refer to the announcement regarding English language proficiency testing. You may register for the test at www.atc.chula.ac.th. The CU-TEP score must be submitted to the program by the interview date.

Plan A, Type A2: Coursework and Thesis Program 

  1. Applicants must be in their final year of study or must have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or other equivalent fields in science and technology.
    Alternatively, applicants who hold a Bachelor’s degree in another field but have at least one year of work experience in pulp and paper technology or a related field may also be considered, subject to the approval of the Program Committee.
  2. Applicants must meet the English language proficiency requirements as specified for Plan A/A1.
  3. Applicants who previously completed an associate degree (or equivalent) before pursuing a two-year Bachelor’s degree program must also submit an official transcript from the associate degree program as part of the application.

Remarks for Applicants

  1. Applicants who have graduated from programs conducted in English may be exempt from submitting English proficiency test scores.
  2. Applicants without an English proficiency test score may apply to the program; however, they must submit a valid score by the interview date.
  3. All English test scores are valid for two years from the test date. The submitted score must remain valid through the date of the final admission decision announcement.
  4. Applicants who are in the final semester of their current degree program must submit their degree certificate by the first day of registration. Admission will be finalized once the degree certificate has been submitted and the required GPAX for the program is met.
